geoff mansfield

has been told he needs a website.

This whole thing is rather egomaniacal. As this is the internet, can I make it up to you in local currency with some fun links and a drawing of a cat?

He (although, obviously, I) is a producer, consultant on the business side of film and new media, and writer; in the future, more and elsewhere. Happily, he was the Bernie Brillstein scholar at NYU where he got his MBA & MFA. Some of his projects – features, docs, shorts – have debuted at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, and other supportive places. Some won prizes, including the Grand Jury at SXSW. Some go on different kinds of screens, in galleries or walls or in your pocket. Some are still in the works but go on. And some projects don’t even have stories by design (rather than failure) and are instead business models aimed at making a pretty big range of storytelling possible and profitable given how quickly tastes and platforms dance about. This might sound disparate but he would disagree: it is to work with stories, his, yours, ours, small and big, whatever the medium, however he can, and for as long as he holds up.

And that – thank you for your patience – is that. Of course he is also a person with persony things, like a country of origin and belonging (Hong Kong), a handful of memories (those diamonds they scatter in the pavement in New York), and some adventures (like riding a bicycle across the States all by his lonesome). He’s also made quite a few mistakes and is always happy to talk about them. He has favourite films, many, and always those of Louis Malle and Bill Forsyth. As this is the start of a courtship, he made you a mixtape.

Feel free to reach out with questions and thoughts and your favourite films, especially via email.
